The Supreme Court Historical Society was incorporated in 1974 as a non-profit organization devoted to expanding public awareness of the history and heritage of the Supreme Court of the United States. Additionally, the Society works with the Supreme Court Office of the Curator to identify and acquire historically significant items including portraits and period antiques which create a rich historical panorama for visitors of the Supreme Court building . The Society is funded through membership contributions and tax-deductible gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and law firms. As a benefit of membership you will receive the Societys publications, which include: SCHS Quarterly a member-oriented newsletter with informative articles on the Court's past, and timely announcements of Society activities and meetings. The Journal of Supreme Court History is composed of three publications annually.  The selected scholarly articles focus on the Court's history, its members and those members of the bar who have appeared before it. Members are also invited to attend educational programs and other Society-sponsored events throughout the year. The Society's Annual Meeting includes the Annual Lecture, as well as a paid formal reception and dinner held in the Supreme Court.
